The Chantry Chinook Classic Salmon Derby respectfully acknowledges that the waters we fish and the lands we gather on are part of the traditional territory of the Saugeen Ojibway Nation, comprising the Chippewas of Saugeen and the Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation, within the broader homelands of the Anishinaabe peoples.

We recognize that the waters of Lake Huron and the surrounding lands have sustained the Saugeen Ojibway people for generations and continue to hold deep cultural, spiritual, and environmental significance. As anglers and stewards, we are grateful for the opportunity to enjoy and learn from this place.

We acknowledge the enduring presence, knowledge, and stewardship of the Saugeen Ojibway Nation, and we thank them for their care of these lands and waters, past and present.

We are committed to respecting this territory and to continuing to learn, reflect, and take meaningful steps toward reconciliation.
